About 3 thousand representatives of Kyiv trade unions came to the Maydan on Tuesday to a preventive action of Ukrainian trade unions devoted to protection of workers

Trade unions set up three claims. First, to coordinate with them the State Budget of Ukraine. the trade unions believe that the current bill of the state budget will diminish wages and pensions.

Second, they claim for discounting of bill of the Labour Code introduced in the VRU. According to the leaders of trade unions, this bill protects the employers only and not the employees.

Third, they require right of legislative initiative.

According to the participants of the manifestation, if their claims are not satisfied, they will resort to extreme protest actions.

They claim to keep existing working places and create additionally about 1 million working places.





"Trade Unions insist that illegal employment layoff are inadmissible in crisis. We insist on fulfillment of engagements of the President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko to create annually a million working place," Volodymyr Kabanchenko, the President of the Trade Union Forum told.






Participants of the manifestation claim to equalize minimal salary and living wage after January 1, 2009. "Taking into account that living wage in Ukraine is very law, it must be done first of all," Kabanchenko told.





He added that another claim is abolition of groundless gas, energy, transport and housing and communal services price rising.
